We live our lives based on priorities, what needs to be done and in whatever order based on its importance. Constantly trying to keep up, and make sure that those around us are happy.
It’s like we maintain a feeling of “something needs to be done”, always looking around us for something to do, and finding them.
Even when we have accomplished everything that could be done, we look around for more.
This is a good mindset, it shows not only responsibility, but that you care for those around you.
The key word I want you to notice about the last paragraph is the word “around”.
We have a tendency to look for things to do that relate to the “outside world”, the world that is based on relationships and responsibility to our communities and planet.
The inner desire to help others is a constant motivator for finding things to do.
We try to find those we see are in need. But we have a terrible tendency to ignore the one person who is the truly needy one...Yourself.
We get up in the morning and rush through our daily routine making sure our hair and teeth are brushed, clothes pressed and shoes polished. With our facade ready to go.
STOP!
Look into the eyes in the mirror, beyond the polished look and make up.
Look at the tiredness those eyes show you, see the slumping posture and newly formed grey hairs and wrinkles. Look into the mind of that person and see their journey. Have empathy for them. For without that tired mentaly drained person none of the things you want to see in your world will ever happen.
When we see another who is clearly overworked or “weary” we want to give them comfort.
To let them know that the world will still be there tomorrow as well as all it’s problems and even new ones.
We do all these things for others, while others who do not understand as you do just sit back and watch.
To truly be the one who makes a difference in your world, you need to be functioning properly.
When your mind and body get tired you go to sleep.
But without something to help relieve that weariness the things that were the past days concerns are predominant when we wake up.
We have to do things that will not only take our minds off of the world of responsibility, but do things that the body does not normally do.
Just like the mind, the body can get “stuck in a rut” as well.
Constant routine same ol’ movements no challenges.
When we “find something to do” we are forcing our minds and bodies to do something out of the normal. We think about new things and move in new ways.
This is the key to not only rejuvenation but to a youthful outlook.
Wonderment not only of the mind but the body as well is what drove us to be who we are today.
Seeing people do things we have never seen makes us wonder if we can do that as well.
And getting up and doing those things caused us to think about new uses for our body.
The other thing this does is give you something other than duties when you do go to bed.
As well as when you wake up. You remember the new thing you did yesterday and are not waking up with a mind filled with tasks, and you can feel the effects of the new use for your body.
Yes those thoughts are still there, but we tell them to wait while we reminisce.
And we are spending time thinking about either doing it again or something else we may have seen. Pleasing thoughts.
Relaxing is good, but it does not relieve thoughts or get the body out of its routine.
To take care of yourself is the most important thing you can do.
And to do that we can’t be stagnant when it comes to a healthy mind and body.
When we set our priorities, we need to always keep one person at the top of your list...
You.
Is the money worth it if you put yourself in the crazy house or hospital to get it?
How will those you are helping feel if you have a heart attack while helping them?
What is new that you are excited to tell and show people; And yourself?
Take care of yourself, without you your world does not exist.
